2. Packaging Requirements
(1) High Oxygen Barrier/High Moisture Barrier: Food has high fat content, which is easily oxidized and deterioration, resulting in bad smell and taste and decreasing its nutritional value. So the food packaging must be high oxygen barrier. Food has low water content, and it is easy to be damped and decrease in crispiness. What��s more, pastries contain a lot of protein, which would be break down into nitrogen source by microorganism, resulting in the fast growth of bacterium. So it is required a packaging with high moisture barrier and high oxygen barrier to keep the food dry and inhibit the microbial proliferation.
(2) Gas Filled Packaging: The packaging is filled with certain proportion of gas like N2, CO2 to generate oxygen barrier.
(3) Light Resistance: Ultraviolet is an important reason of fat oxidation, so the packaging materials of biscuits is required to have a certain light resistance.
(4) High Puncture Resistance: There may be sharp objects inside the convenience food packaging. The packaging pouch will be punctured easily during transportation, resulting in food spoilage. So the packaging must be high puncture resistance.
(5) High Heat Sealability: The food packaging is required high heat separability because the food crumb, fats and oils would pollute the heat seal interface and affect the sealing strength.
(6) High Impact Strength: The packaging pouch would be broken, especially heal seal broken, when a fall occurs. So the packaging film is required high impact strength to prevent the damage in transportation and storage.
(7) High Peeling Strength: The peeling strength between the laminate layers is low, even delaminated, which would weaken the material integration of all layers, such as heal-sealing strength, tensile strength and impact strength etc. Easily result in poor use when the packaging suffers external force.
(8) Low Residual Solvent: The residual solvent in the packaging film may be slowly seep into the food, so we must minimize the residual solvent in food packaging as possible as we can.
(9) Suitable Right Angle Tearing:It is easy to tear the pouch when use, easy to eat. Packaging Solutions
(10) Suitable Friction Coefficient: apply to the requirement of automatic packaging machine, with better opening and neither running off nor slipping.
